The Cabin on Palomar Lane
Kanab, Utah, United States 84741
Thank you for considering staying at the newly built Cabin on Palomar Lane, which just opened on May 9, 2018. As travelers, we know quality design and service and expect this ourselves on our adventures. Our cabin is designed and equipped to exceed your expectations.
The cabin has an open-concept kitchen and living area, two bedrooms with adjoining private bathrooms, a washer and dryer, gas grill, and fire pit. There are several features that you won’t find anywhere else including custom-made bed frames, end tables, picture frames, shelves, coffee table, and coat rack. All items are designed and made by us using woods from the area.
The cabin's location is perfect for those who seek solitude and adventure. We are just minutes from grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping, but also far enough from town so you can enjoy the outdoors peacefully. At night, the area will become very quiet and quite dark, perfect for stargazing or roasting marshmallows by the fire pit.
For the adventurous, we are close to several national and state parks as well as other activities:
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary
Bryce Canyon National Park
Grand Canyon National Park
Kaibab State Park
Zion National Park
Our family of three reside in Des Moines, Iowa, but we are patiently waiting our move to Kanab in five years. As fans of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, we look forward to spending time there to support their mission of a No-kill nation. Our daughter, Ireland, attends Iowa State University and majors in Biology with a minor in Criminal Studies.
We’re a free-spirited, hard-working, adventurous, and private couple. We believe and advocate for the protection of ALL living beings. In our spare time, we love to travel, volunteer, exercise, and spend time with our daughter and our three pets, Paco, Ellie, and Brady.
The Property Manager
The cabin has a property manager available to you throughout your stay. We are very fortunate to have, Larry Erdman, managing this property. He has a kind heart, is dedicated to providing exceptional service, and has experience in managing vacation rentals.
If the cabin is unavailable, please visit our other vacation rental, the Casita on Palomar Lane.

We loved this little cabin! It was perfect for our needs. My daughter, niece and I took my 76 year old dad to see the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce Canyon. The cabin was nicely located for these day trips. We also visited the Pink Coral Sand Dunes. It was very clean, well stocked, and adorably decorated! The town of Kanab had a nice variety of places to grab coffee in the morning and eat a late dinner on our return. We also appreciated the binder full of information about local establishments and things to do. I have never stayed in a VRBO or Airbnb so this was a delightful first experience, so much so that I am afraid I will be disappointed if I ever stay at another.
My wife and I enjoyed staying at the Cabin on Palomar Lane during a few day visit with the purpose of hiking as much as possible. The cabin is very new and everything in it is in new condition. It is well equipped and the only thing we needed were some groceries. The location is just a brief drive from Kanab. Recommend!
I will be coming back to this cabin. I spent the weekend there with my dog, hanging out and enjoying the quiet scenery. The cabin is incredibly cozy and clean with very rustic and stylish features, the fireplace is awesome. And while the highway is just to the north with easy access to Kanab, there is nothing but expansive views to the east and west. I went in February and had a beautiful dusting of snow every morning. There is plenty to to do nearby, exploring the red rocks and canyons of Southern Utah. I loved it and will be back!
